Google Music Beta is a cloud-based music locker service that lets you store up to 20,000 tracks for free. You can then play back your music either via a Flash-enabled webpage or an Android smartphone app. The Android app includes an offline option to store local copies of your songs.
I’ve been using Google Music Beta for the past couple of weeks, putting it through its paces and comparing how it handles versus Spotify. Overall I’ve [...]

My friends at synthpop website The Electricity Club are hosting their first ever live event next month in London, featuring Vile Electrodes and Curxes - two brilliant new bands, both of whom I’ve featured on this blog before. I got in touch with TEC head honcho Chi Ming Lai and asked him to tell us a bit about “TEC001” and what to expect.
Why did you decide to put on a live TEC event: doesn’t editing and writing [...]

Top industrial and electronic music website Side-Line Magazine calls The Pansentient League an “excellent Spotify blog” and says the ebook is:
“Yours for not even $6. Recommended reading.”
Not even six dollars? Try around three dollars: [...]

It isn’t easy being an IT manager. You have to watch out for all sorts of dumb users just waiting to click on the wrong kind of web link, install some piece of malware, or accidentally rm -rf his My Documents folder. Now they want to stream music to their desktops using Spotify, the peer-to-peer application that you’re sure will give you no end of grief.
You may have a policy that forbids users to install 3rd-party “non business-related” [...]

SpotSearch is an app for Spotify Mobile (iPhone and Android) that finds a song on Spotify based on some lyrics you enter. In a way it’s similar to Shazam, but instead of playing it a sample of music you type in some words from the song instead. Maybe you have a tune in your head and you can’t remember what it’s called or who it’s by. If you know a line from the lyrics, use SpotSearch to find and play the song in Spotify.
Using SpotSearch [...]

UK independent music distributor [PIAS] suffered a massive blow when their warehouse was destroyed by lunatics during the London Riots. My favorite band The Human League are on Wall of Sound records, whose stock was among those that went up in smoke.
PIAS have been great supporters of Spotify, making all their content available for you to listen to. If you put on some music this weekend, give some of the PIAS-distributed artists a go, as [...]
