Motorola Milestone: Second Opinions

Motorola Milestone: Second Opinions

I’ve had my Motorola Milestone for nearly two months now so thought it was time for a follow-up to my first impressions. Since I bought my Milestone, a couple of things have happened: The price dropped by £50 and Google released the Nexus One. Do I regret rushing out and buying the Milestone? Read on to find out (plus view my list of  Top 20 Android Apps).
Google Nexus One – UK Review

Google Nexus One – UK Review

Google’s Android smartphone the Nexus One was recently launched and available to order for shipping to the UK. You’ve probably read all the reports and reviews from the USA, but here’s a look at the Nexus One from a UK perspective. I asked Paul Field, English electronic music fan and proud new owner of a Nexus One if he’d let us know his thoughts. Paul has very kindly sent us the following review of his shiny new [...]
Motorola Milestone UK: First Impressions

Motorola Milestone UK: First Impressions

Despite selling out in 3 hours, I was lucky enough to receive a new Android 2.0-powered Motorola Milestone (aka the Motorola Droid) on the day of its release here in the UK. This replaces my  T-Mobile (HTC) G1 which I’ve had since the beginning of the year. Here are some first impressions of the Milestone, with an emphasis on how it’s different from the G1 and from the Verizon Droid as seen in the USA.
Google Android on G1 – Hello World

Google Android on G1 – Hello World

Upgraded my phone from a Sony-Ericsson W880i to a T-Mobile G1 running Google Android: I’ve had it for just over a week now, so I’ve had a chance now to have a play and get used to the device. It’s an amazing piece of technology and although I have a couple of hardware complaints and one particular issue with the software, overall I’m well pleased with it. Previously I’d had to carry my W880i phone, Creative [...]

Plasma Drive

Plasma Drive

This was a big expense but worth every penny – a Pioneer PDP-508XD: This 50″ kuro plasma TV is phenomenal: excellent on standard-def, stunning on high-def, an impressive upgrade from my 42″ Toshiba rear-screen projector. Rating: 10/10

They’re Watching You

Finally, my first digital camera – a Sony Cyber-shot W130: I’d been holding out for a decent camera-phone, but I gave up waiting since a dedicated snapper is always going to be better – I chose this Cyber-shot as it was cheap and cheerful and stuffed full of mega pixels. I may have only been used to the grainy pics from my wee SE mobby, but I’m more than pleased with the picture quality from this. I also got a 10-in-1 [...]
Interface

Interface

With a shiny new PC and display, I completed the upgrade with a new keyboard and mouse. I still have the old PC so that stays paired with my wired Logitech keyboard (with rubbed-off A and W keys thanks to 3 years of FPS shooters) and MX 518 Optical Gaming mouse. For the new system, I wanted a wireless setup for a potential media center setup so I splashed out again and went for a Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard and Logitech MX Revolution [...]
Zenophile

Zenophile

This is my third Creative MP3 player – I’ve had a Zen NX, then a Zen Vision:M and I now have a 32 GB Zen like this: I use it exclusively for music, and I like to have a large library of tunes with me so I was particularly sold on this one as it has an SD slot for extra memory. Unfortunately, this works like a mounted disk o’ files: the Zen won’t read MP3 tags from it or integrate it into the Music library. So, you [...]
Dell Ultrasharp

Dell Ultrasharp

Also upgraded the monitor from a Benq to one of these: a Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24″ Widescreen LCD Monitor: Despite the size, I was a bit underwhelmed at first: although costing more that twice as much, the Dell didn’t seem that much better than the Benq. A couple of weeks of usage though (and a bit of calibrating) and I love it – it’s a great looking panel and games like Bioshock and Crysis look fantastic. Rating: [...]
