Here’s a graphic showing the different features available on Spotify for iPhone (v0.4.5), Android (v0.3.37), and Symbian. Feature-wise, the iPhone version is now pulling well ahead of the pack, having had two major updates in the past couple of months. Spotify for iPad is also expected as the next mobile release from the company. Meanwhile the Android and Symbian versions are falling [...]
Things I did with my Android smartphone today:
Morning
Got woken up by the recurring alarm
Checked the notification bar and read five emails that came in overnight
Read three Twitter mentions and my Twitter stream (using Twitter for Android)
Checked my Facebook News feed; “liked” a couple and commented on a friend’s status
Read today’s newspaper on the bus (using Guardian Anywhere)
Read some RSS news feeds (using [...]
I’ve had my Motorola Milestone for nearly two months now so thought it was time for a follow-up to my first impressions. Since I bought my Milestone, a couple of things have happened: The price dropped by £50 and Google released the Nexus One. Do I regret rushing out and buying the Milestone? Read on to find out (plus view my list of Top 20 Android Apps).
Google’s Android smartphone the Nexus One was recently launched and available to order for shipping to the UK. You’ve probably read all the reports and reviews from the USA, but here’s a look at the Nexus One from a UK perspective. I asked Paul Field, English electronic music fan and proud new owner of a Nexus One if he’d let us know his thoughts. Paul has very kindly sent us the following review of his shiny new [...]
First came Spotibot: a Spotify music recommendation service on Twitter (reviewed here). This included a Better Links service to spruce up the drab Spotify link pages with album art and track listings. Then came the excellent Spotibot Playlist Generator: a mashup that creates custom playlists for you based on similar artists. Now Spotibot is ready for walkies: introducing Spotibot Mobile, a webapp for Spotify Mobile that helps you to find [...]
Despite selling out in 3 hours, I was lucky enough to receive a new Android 2.0-powered Motorola Milestone (aka the Motorola Droid) on the day of its release here in the UK. This replaces my T-Mobile (HTC) G1 which I’ve had since the beginning of the year. Here are some first impressions of the Milestone, with an emphasis on how it’s different from the G1 and from the Verizon Droid as seen in the USA.
Spotify for Android has just been updated to version 0.3.24, available now from the Android Market. This brings a couple of big updates to the mobile app and several minor changes too.
UPDATE: a revised version of this page is here.
I finally managed to get a hands-on look at Spotify Mobile for the iPhone (thanks @JackalHeadGod). Being familiar with Spotify on Android, I was able to compare the two to determine what things they had in common and which features were unique to one device. Here then is the definitive report on which is best – it’s the Spotify Mobile Smackdown: iPhone versus Android!
I’ve been using Spotify on Android for just over a week now and must say I’m hugely impressed with it. Offline Playlists are certainly its killer feature and it’s so easy to use. Being able to easily store hour upon hour of your favourite music almost returns the feeling that you “own” the music. I previously looked how well Spotify Mobile performed streaming live during my journey walking home. It faired pretty [...]
After many months of waiting, Spotify is now available for premium subscribers on two mobile platforms: Apple’s iPhone (including iPod Touch) and Google Android. As I predicted a few weeks ago, these were released together at the same time and I’m delighted to say that they’re everything I’d hoped for. Since I have a Android phone (the G1 on T-Mobile), here is an in-depth review of Spotify on Android!
