My Top 10 Tracks: Vision Talk

Vision Talk are a Swedish electro band who recently released their second album Elevation. I instantly liked it: it took their earlier italo disco sound and evolved it into a Scandinavian synthpop vibe. It’s a fun pop album that’d I’d recommend to anyone into electropop or futurepop, especially fans of S.P.O.C.K. and Apoptygma Berzerk. Unfortunately this may be the final album from Vision Talk, as they are thinking of moving on to other projects. That’d be a shame, but at least they’ve left us with two great albums (both on Spotify). I asked the band what their 10 favourite tracks were. Songwriter Krister Petersson replied with his list: read on to find out more!

1. Indochine — Leila

This was not the first song I heard from Indochine but it has a Swedish sample which was very cool ’cause the band are from France.

2. Rational Youth — City Of Night

The first Rational Youth album I heard was Heredity but I was disappointed: I had heard so much about this band. But then a friend introduced me to Cold War Night Life and I loved it.

3. Alphaville — A Victory of Love

I was 9 years old when I first heard Forever Young. That album is still in my top 20 list off best synthpop albums.

4. Boytronic — Trigger Track

I loved it when I first heard it and I still love it. Intelligent synthpop.

5. Cabaret Voltaire — The Web

A friend of me recorded a cassette for me with harder electronic music. This was one of the tracks and ever since has been a favourite song of mine.

6. Fad Gadget — Collapsing New People

This was so cool. A mix of synthpop and industrial music in for me a perfect way.

7. Soft Cell — Sex Dwarf

I could have picked another one cause I really like Soft Cell’s early stuff . They were one of the first electronic bands I heard back in the 80s.

8. The Human League — The Black Hit Of Space

From their ultracool album Travelogue. One of my favourite albums even today.

9. D.A.F — Prinzessin

This was one of the first songs I heard from D.A.F. It’s a beautiful track is still a very good song for me.

10. Fancy — Slice Me Nice

Well this is a true classic. I would have picked more Italo Disco songs in this list but Spotify doesn’t like italo-disco or maybe the italo-disco freaks don’t like Spotify.
